White fall pumpkins

Loved this! So I had to make not one, but two. I got the idea from this blog. But didn't follow her directions. I bought white carvable pumpkins from menards, acrylic paint, paint brush and a clear spray paint from amazon.com. Next I went to the computer picked out my font I liked made it as big as I could. I tried transferring it on with graffiti but it didn't work well.... So I cut it out n drew it on the pumpkin... Then I free hand painted it it doesn't have to be perfect but it did take several coats. Finally I sprayed it with the clear spray paint in hopes it would last longer. Hope you like it!

Pictures to come soon!

Alisa Burke shares some ideas using book pages. These would be a great way to re-purpose books you picked up for free — or those sitting on your shelves which you no longer need and which won’t sell for much.

To start did you know you can make your own dishwasher detergent? I still have plenty but have not been happy with it. So may ditch it and try this out soon.

5 Ribbon Woven Headbands

New to Bands, Bows & More are the 5 Ribbon Woven headbands.

These headbands are made very similar to the other great headbands. The same things happens to them but then we add a 5 Ribbon Woven Braid to the top. Making it pop off the headband.

This 5 Ribbon Woven Headband gives us an unlimited amount of options for designs. It is just a matter of picking 5 ribbons that look good together. So even if you want pink and white's and your neighbor does to you can have completely different headbands!

Because of the extra amount of ribbon and time we will not be able to charge the same as the traditional headbands. However we have done our best to price these at a low price of $8.50.

These can be special ordered just like any of our other headbands and snap clips.

Cleaning Tips

I have had several people ask me how to clean a dirty headband, bow or snap clip. Personally I have been lucky and have yet needed to clean any of my daughters collection. Although one day I'm sure I will be looking for the information in this post!
I have looked around and found many different ways to clean them. However since I have never tried them there are do at your own risk suggestions. I am only posting the ideas that I would feel safe to try. (As some people are crazy and actually threw bows in the washer!)
If your bow has an actual stain vs. just being dingy you may want to do more of the spot cleaning techniques. For headbands I would personally try Idea 2.

Idea 1- Use a small brush and dish washing liquid soap and scrub them clean. Place them in a window that gets lots of sun so that they dry quickly.
Idea 2- Boil a pot of water and hold the bow or headband over the steam with a pair of tongs. Then wipe off the dirt. For bows it can also help bring the bow "back to life".
Idea 3- Put bows in a safe place (such as a sippy cup/ bottle holder) in the dishwasher. Blot the bulk of water out and let dry.
Idea 4- Soak in a sink of soapy water.

These Idea's may or may not ruin any satin ribbon. But should be safe on the grosgrain ribbon. Ninety percent of the items purchased from Bands, Bows & More are made from grosgrain ribbon. There is a very limited use of satin.
